2026 Ultra Bee HP electric dirt bike in Carbon Black

2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP vs Ultra Bee: What Changed and Which to Buy

The 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP is the most important update to Surron’s mid-size electric dirt bike since the Ultra Bee launched. It brings more power, more torque and a full set of new rider aids, while keeping the same frame and battery. So is it worth paying more than the standard Surron Ultra Bee? This comparison covers every change, how the two bikes ride and which one makes more sense for you.

We sell both bikes at our Middletown, NY showroom, and this is one of the most common questions we get. Prices on this page come straight from our store and update automatically.

2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP vs Ultra Bee: the short answer

Quick answer: the 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP adds 3.5 kW of peak power (24.5 kW vs 21 kW), slightly more torque, SWC wheelie control, Auto Hold, more ride modes and a gold-anodized fork. Frame, battery, wheels and top speed stay the same. In our store the standard Ultra Bee is $5,699 and the HP is $5,999. If you are a stronger rider or want the latest rider aids, the HP is worth it. If you want the best value, the standard bike is still excellent.

The Surron Ultra Bee in brief

The Surron Ultra Bee sits between the lightweight Light Bee X and the full-size Storm Bee in Surron’s range. It was designed for adult riders who had outgrown the Light Bee but wanted something lighter and easier to live with than a full-size motocross bike. It quickly became one of the best-selling electric dirt bikes in the US.

Key ingredients include a forged aluminum twin-spar frame, a mid-mounted motor, a 74V 60Ah swappable battery and full-size 19 in and 18 in wheels. The 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP keeps all of that and focuses its changes on the motor, the controller and the electronics.

What is new on the 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP

  • More power: 24.5 kW peak in Turbo mode and 21.5 kW in Sport, up from 21 kW and 18 kW.
  • More torque: 520 N·m at the wheel, up from 511 N·m.
  • Smarter motor control: MTPA/MTPV control helps the motor deliver its torque more efficiently across the speed range.
  • SWC wheelie control: keeps the front wheel down under hard acceleration.
  • ASR traction control: limits rear wheel spin on loose and wet ground.
  • Auto Hold: holds the bike in place on slopes so you do not roll back.
  • More ride modes: Eco, Daily, Sport, Turbo and Reverse, plus low-speed control.
  • Five-level regen: adjustable regenerative braking for coasting and braking.
  • New look: gold-anodized forks on both the Carbon Black and Desert Brown colors.

Power and acceleration

On paper, the 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP gains 3.5 kW in both Turbo and Sport modes. On the trail, the difference is most obvious when you open the throttle hard out of corners and on long climbs. The Surron Ultra Bee HP pulls harder for longer, and the extra mid-range makes it feel more relaxed when the bike is loaded with a bigger rider.

The torque increase is small, just 9 N·m at the wheel, so low-speed feel is similar. The bigger change is how the motor is controlled. MTPA and MTPV control strategies help the motor deliver its torque efficiently at both low and high speeds, which keeps the power feeling strong as speed builds.

For lighter or newer riders, the standard Surron Ultra Bee already has plenty of punch. The extra power on the HP matters most to heavier riders, aggressive trail riders and anyone who rides open terrain at speed.

Top speed: why both stop at 59 mph

Both bikes are rated at 59 mph (95 km/h). Surron kept the same top speed and gearing, so the extra power shows up as stronger acceleration and better hill climbing rather than a higher top end. In practice, the Surron Ultra Bee HP reaches cruising speeds sooner and holds them more easily on climbs and into a headwind.

For off-road riding, that is the right trade. Very few trails let you ride above 50 mph, but almost every trail rewards quicker drives out of corners and stronger pull up steep hills.

Rider aids explained

SWC wheelie control

With this much torque, the front wheel lifts easily. SWC reads what the bike is doing and trims power to keep the front wheel down when you accelerate hard. That means faster, safer drives out of corners, especially for riders still learning to manage throttle on a powerful electric bike.

ASR traction control

ASR (anti-slip regulation) limits rear wheel spin when grip is poor. On wet roots, loose gravel or sand, it helps the bike drive forward instead of spinning and sliding.

Auto Hold and low-speed control

Auto Hold keeps the bike still on slopes, which is a real help when you stop on a steep climb. Low-speed control and the reverse mode make it easier to maneuver around a tight trailhead, a garage or a truck ramp.

Five-level regen

Regenerative braking now has five levels for both coasting and braking. More regen slows the bike when you roll off and puts energy back in the battery, which helps on long descents. Less regen feels more like a gas bike and lets the bike roll freely.

Range, battery and charging

Both bikes use a 74V 60Ah swappable battery of about 4.4 kWh. Surron quotes up to 71.5 miles at a steady 31 mph for the HP, and up to about 70 miles for the standard Surron Ultra Bee. Hard trail riding in Turbo mode uses far more energy, so plan on roughly half those figures if you ride aggressively.

Charging takes about 2.5 hours from 20% to 80% on the 1000W charger. Because the battery is swappable, a spare pack is the easiest way to double your riding time on long days.

Chassis and handling

Both bikes use the same forged aluminum twin-spar frame, the same 19 in front and 18 in rear wheels and the same 35.8 in seat height. Handling is very similar, and the Surron Ultra Bee HP’s gold-anodized fork is the easiest way to tell them apart.

The 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP weighs 195 lb (88 kg). That is heavier than a Light Bee X or Talaria Sting, but much lighter than a gas 250cc motocross bike, so it stays easy to pick up, load and steer in tight terrain.

Ride modes

The 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP offers Eco, Daily, Sport and Turbo modes plus Reverse. Eco is soft and efficient, ideal for beginners and long rides. Daily suits everyday trail riding. Sport adds a lot of punch, and Turbo unlocks the full 24.5 kW for experienced riders. The standard bike has fewer mode options, but still covers easy, sport and full power riding.

Price: is the HP worth the extra money?

In our store, the 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP costs $5,999 and the standard Surron Ultra Bee costs $5,699. For that difference you get 3.5 kW more peak power, wheelie control, Auto Hold, more ride modes, five-level regen and the newest model year.

If you would want any of those features as aftermarket upgrades, the Surron Ultra Bee HP is good value. If you are a lighter rider who mainly rides trails at moderate speed, the standard bike gives you most of the experience for less money.

Which one should you buy?

Buy the 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP if:

  • You are a heavier or more experienced rider who wants the strongest pull.
  • You ride steep hills, open terrain or fast trails.
  • You want wheelie control, Auto Hold and the full set of ride modes.
  • You want the newest model with the latest electronics.

Buy the standard Ultra Bee if:

  • You want the best value in a mid-size electric dirt bike.
  • You are lighter or newer to riding and do not need more power.
  • You mostly ride tight woods and moderate-speed trails.

You can compare both, along with the Light Bee X, Storm Bee and youth Hyper Bee, in our Surron range.

Pros and cons of the 2026 Surron Ultra Bee HP

Pros

  • 24.5 kW peak power and 520 N·m of torque.
  • SWC wheelie control, ASR traction control and Auto Hold.
  • Five ride modes including Reverse, plus five-level regen.
  • Proven frame, 74V 60Ah swappable battery and up to 71.5 miles of range.
  • Surron’s large dealer network and aftermarket.

Cons

  • Costs more than the standard bike.
  • Same 59 mph top speed as the standard bike.
  • Tall 35.8 in seat height for shorter riders.

Setup and riding tips

Set rear sag with you on the bike in full gear, aiming for about a third of the rear travel, then adjust the fork to match. Run around 14 to 18 psi in the tires for most trail riding. Start in Eco or Daily mode and leave SWC and traction control on while you learn how the bike pulls.

As your skills grow, try Sport mode and experiment with regen levels. A higher regen setting can save brake pads on long descents, while a lower setting feels more natural on fast, flowing trails.

Ownership: maintenance and battery care

Routine maintenance on both bikes covers the chain and sprockets, brake pads, tires, suspension and bolt checks. There is no oil, no fuel and no engine rebuild, so running costs are a fraction of a gas bike. Keep the battery between 20% and 80% for daily use, store it at around 50% for long breaks, and keep it out of extreme heat and cold.

Popular upgrades include a spare battery, hand guards, a skid plate and terrain-specific tires. Our parts and accessories range includes Surron chargers and spares.

Are they street legal?

The Surron Ultra Bee and the HP are both sold for off-road use in the US. They do not come with the DOT equipment and paperwork most states require for road registration, so ride on private land, tracks and legal off-road areas, and check your state’s rules before riding anywhere else.

Who the Ultra Bee suits best

The Surron Ultra Bee family fits a wide range of riders. It is big enough for most adults, with a 35.8 in seat height and full-size wheels, but light enough that you can still pick it up after a fall or load it onto a truck without help. That balance is why so many riders choose it as their first serious electric dirt bike.

It suits trail riders who want more than a Light Bee, gas riders switching to electric who want similar performance to a 125cc to 250cc trail bike, and families who want one bike that a teenager and an adult can both enjoy in the lower modes. Very short riders may find the seat tall, and racers chasing motocross lap times may want a full-size bike such as the Storm Bee.

Upgrading from a Light Bee X

Many of our customers come to the Ultra Bee from a Light Bee X. The jump is big. You get roughly three times the peak power, a much larger 74V battery, bigger wheels, longer suspension travel and a chassis that feels stable at speeds where the Light Bee starts to feel nervous.

The trade-off is weight. At around 195 lb, the bike is roughly twice as heavy as a Light Bee X, so it takes more effort in very tight terrain and when lifting it. For most riders who have outgrown a Light Bee, that is a trade worth making, and the HP’s wheelie and traction control make the extra power easier to manage.

A quick buying checklist

  • Confirm the model year and whether you are buying the standard bike or the HP.
  • Check that the charger is included and ask about a spare battery.
  • Ask whether freight to your door is included and whether the bike is set up before it ships.
  • Find out who handles warranty claims and which spares are in stock.
  • Budget for gear: helmet, goggles, gloves, boots and body armor.

Riding through the seasons

Lithium batteries deliver less power and range in the cold. Below about 40°F, expect a softer feel and shorter rides, so store the battery indoors and fit it just before you ride. In summer, avoid leaving the bike in direct sun for hours and let the battery cool before charging. Light rain is fine, but avoid deep water and never pressure-wash the motor, controller or connectors.

Transport and storage

The Surron Ultra Bee fits easily in a full-size pickup with a ramp, on a small trailer or on a hitch carrier rated for at least 200 lb. Strap it down by the frame and bars, not the plastics. For long-term storage, keep it somewhere dry, charge the battery to around 50% and top it up every month or two.
