A Surron Ultra Bee charger built for the Ultra Bee battery

The Ultra Bee uses a higher-voltage battery than the Light Bee X, so it needs a charger with an 85V output. This Surron Ultra Bee charger is built to that specification and connects straight to the OEM charge port on the Ultra Bee battery.

It is listed for every 2023, 2024 and 2025 Ultra Bee trim. If you own the 2026 Ultra Bee HP or another model year, contact us and we will confirm compatibility before you order.

Surron Ultra Bee charger 12A fast charging

With a 12A output, the Surron Ultra Bee charger refills a stock Ultra Bee battery from 20% to 100% in about 3 hours, and from empty in about 3.5 hours. That is noticeably quicker than many slower 8A and 10A aftermarket chargers, which can take 4 to 6 hours for the same charge.

Faster charging means more time riding and less time waiting around in the pits. A long lunch break can return a big chunk of range, especially if you start charging as soon as the battery has cooled.

Surron Ultra Bee charger IP67 waterproof rating

An IP67 rating means the charger is sealed against dust and protected against temporary immersion in water. That makes it well suited to garages, trailers and pits where dust and the odd splash are part of life.

Even so, always charge in a dry place and keep the plug connections out of water. Waterproofing protects the unit; it does not make wet electrical connections safe.

How to use your Surron Ultra Bee charger

  1. Park the bike on level ground and switch it off.
  2. Open the charge port cover on the right side of the battery pack.
  3. Plug the charger output into the charge port. It fits only one way.
  4. Plug the AC cable into a standard 110V wall outlet.
  5. The indicator turns red while charging and green when the battery is full.
  6. Unplug from the wall first, then from the bike, and close the port cover.

If the charger gets hot, its thermal protection can pause charging. This is normal in summer, and charging resumes once the unit cools.

The two chargers are not interchangeable. The Ultra Bee charger will not fit the Light Bee X charge port, and the Light Bee charger cannot charge an Ultra Bee battery. If you own a Light Bee X, see our Surron Light Bee X charger instead.

Who should buy a Surron Ultra Bee charger?

  • Owners whose charger has failed or gone missing.
  • Riders who want a second charger for the trailer, cabin or workshop.
  • Owners with a spare battery who want to charge it while riding on the other.
  • Shops that service Ultra Bees and need a dedicated bench charger.

Surron Ultra Bee charger safety

  • Charge in a dry, well-ventilated space at room temperature.
  • Place the charger on a hard, non-flammable surface.
  • Let the battery cool after a hard ride before plugging in.
  • Keep the vents clear and never cover the charger.
  • Install a smoke detector where you charge.
  • Never use a charger with a damaged cable or plug.

Getting the best battery life

For maximum battery life, charge to around 80 to 90% for everyday riding and only go to 100% before long rides or back-to-back trail days. Avoid leaving the battery fully empty for long periods, and charge only above freezing temperatures.

Over the winter, store the bike with the battery at a partial charge and top it up every month or so.

How the Surron Ultra Bee charger works with the BMS

The charger supplies voltage and current, while the battery’s management system controls how the cells accept it. Near the end of a charge, the system slows things down and balances the cells so each finishes at the same level. That is why the final few percent can take a little longer. It is normal and helps keep the battery healthy.

Signs you need a new charger

  • The charger no longer powers on or the indicator does not light
  • Charging takes much longer than it used to
  • Charging stops repeatedly before the battery is full
  • The cable or plug is cracked, frayed or scorched
  • The unit smells of burning or gets unusually hot

If you notice any of these, stop using the old unit. A new Surron Ultra Bee charger restores safe, reliable charging.

Caring for your Surron Ultra Bee charger

Coil the cables loosely after use rather than wrapping them tightly around the charger. Store it indoors, keep it clean and check the plugs before each use. Keep the bike’s charge port cover closed when you are not charging to keep dirt and water out.

Charging in hot and cold weather

In summer, park in the shade and let the battery cool before charging. If the Surron Ultra Bee charger pauses because it is hot, give it time to cool and it will resume. In winter, bring the bike or battery indoors and let it warm up before charging. Lithium batteries should not be charged below freezing.

A charger for the trailer or workshop

Many owners keep a second charger where they ride most. A Surron Ultra Bee charger in the trailer or at the cabin means you never forget your charger, and the one at home stays put. Shops also find a dedicated bench charger useful for testing bikes after repairs.

Charging at tracks and campgrounds

Many venues offer power outlets. Always ask before plugging in, keep cables tidy so no one trips and never leave a charging bike or battery unattended in a public area. Being a considerate guest keeps venues welcoming to electric riders, and it means you will be welcome to plug in again next time you visit.

Troubleshooting your Surron Ultra Bee charger

Charger does not start: check the wall outlet with another device, make sure the plug is fully seated in the charge port and confirm the bike is switched off.

Charging stops early: the battery or charger may be too hot or too cold. Move them to a room-temperature space and try again.

Indicator stays red for much longer than usual: the battery may be balancing its cells or aging. If it happens repeatedly, contact us.

If the Surron Ultra Bee charger or battery smells of burning, makes unusual noises or is damaged, unplug everything and get in touch before using it again.

Check your outlet

A 12A charger draws a steady load for several hours, so plug it directly into a sound wall outlet rather than a long chain of extension cords or a worn power strip. If you must use an extension lead, choose a heavy-duty cord rated for the load and keep it fully uncoiled so it does not overheat.

Charging a spare battery

If you own a spare Ultra Bee battery, a second Surron Ultra Bee charger lets you charge it at home while you ride on the other pack. Place the spare on a hard, non-flammable surface, connect the charger and keep an eye on it until it is full.

A charging routine that works

Let the battery cool for 20 to 30 minutes after riding, plug in, then unplug once the indicator turns green. For daily riding, stop at around 80 to 90%. Before a big trail day, charge to 100% the night before. Following the same routine every time is easy to remember and kind to the battery.

Keeping the charge port clean

Keep the charge port cover closed when you are not charging. Before plugging in, check the pins are clean and dry. If the port is dusty, blow it out with dry air rather than wiping it with a wet cloth. Always pull the plug by its body, not the cable, and avoid sharp bends where the cable enters the plug.

Taking the charger on the road

Pack the Surron Ultra Bee charger in a padded bag so it is not crushed by other gear, and keep it away from fuel cans and chemicals. At the venue, ask before plugging in and keep the charger in a dry, shaded spot.

Storing your battery over winter

If the bike will sit for the winter, charge the battery to around half and store it somewhere cool and dry. Check the charge every month or so and top it up if it drops. Avoid leaving the battery connected to the charger for weeks at a time.

The cost of a charge

Charging an electric dirt bike costs very little compared with filling a gas bike. Add the savings on oil, filters and engine maintenance, and an electric bike is one of the cheapest ways to enjoy off-road riding.

Understanding volts and amps

Battery voltage is a nominal figure. A lithium pack’s full-charge voltage is higher than its nominal rating, which is why chargers are labeled with the full-charge value. Charging to the right voltage fills the battery completely without overcharging it. The amp rating is the charging current: more amps means faster charging, with the battery’s management system controlling the final stage.

Always match the charger to the bike. Using a charger built for a different battery voltage can damage the pack or simply fail to charge it.

A charger for families with more than one bike

If your household rides more than one Ultra Bee, a second Surron Ultra Bee charger lets you charge both bikes at the same time after a ride. Label each charger so it stays with the right bike, and give each one its own safe, ventilated charging spot.

Plan your charging around your riding

If you ride early in the morning, plug in the evening before so the battery has time to cool, charge and rest. On riding days, bring the bike home, let it cool while you clean it, then charge. A predictable routine means the bike is always ready when you are.

Electric riding, simplified

One of the best parts of owning an electric dirt bike is how simple it is. There is no fuel to mix, no oil to change and no carburetor to clean. Plug in, charge and ride. A reliable charger is the heart of that simple routine, which is why it pays to have the right one for your bike.

Safe charging spots at home

Choose one place to charge and set it up properly. A garage or shed with a concrete floor, good airflow and a smoke detector is ideal. Keep the area clear of fuel, paint, cardboard and other flammable materials. Make sure the outlet is easy to reach so you can unplug quickly if needed, and keep children and pets away while charging.

Avoid charging in bedrooms, hallways or anywhere that blocks an exit. A tidy, dedicated spot makes charging safer and turns it into a simple habit after every ride.

What to do after a crash

If the bike has a hard crash, inspect the battery area and charge port before charging. Look for cracks, dents or loose connections. If anything looks damaged, do not charge it. Contact us for advice first.

Why choose an OEM-spec charger?

Cheap generic chargers may deliver the wrong voltage, lack proper protection or use a connector that does not fit well. An OEM-spec Surron Ultra Bee charger is built for the voltage and connector the Ultra Bee expects, so it fills the battery correctly and plugs straight into the port.
